The Cognizant Center for Future of Work and Future Workplace jointly embarked on a nine-month initiative to determine exactly what the future of HR will look like. The result was the conception of over 21 new HR jobs, including detailed responsibilities and skills needed to succeed in each role. While some of the roles are entirely new positions, others are new responsibilities that are becoming increasingly important. All 21 jobs embody five core themes: individual and organizational resilience; organizational trust and safety; creativity and innovation; data literacy; human-machine partnerships. The Coronavirus has drastically reshaped the economy and the labor force. Since its rapid spread around the globe, we have experienced titanic shifts in how we work, where we work, and the technologies we use to stay connected. They have a tremendous opportunity, and responsibility, to provide workers with guidance on the skills and capabilities they will need to be successful over the next decade as new roles continue to emerge.

Imagine you are offered a deal with your bank, where your money doubles every three days. If your estimates were way out, you are not alone. In other words, this simple mathematical error could be costing lives — meaning that the correction of the bias should be a priority as we attempt to flatten curves and avoid second waves of the pandemic around the world. To understand the origins of this particular bias, we first need to consider different kinds of growth. If your garden produces three apples every day, you have six after two days, nine after three days, and so on. Exponential growth, by contrast, accelerates over time. Perhaps the simplest example is population growth; the more people you have reproducing, the faster the population grows.
