The Gathering is an opportunity for adults with disabilities, 18 and older, to learn and grow in the men and women God made them to be. At this time, we are meeting via Zoom on Wednesday evenings from pm. We have a time of worship together followed by a sermon-based teaching and discussion. Each month through the end of and maybe beyond … see what we did there? In October, we are proudly featuring Molly Hagemeier. Molly serves on the Grace Kids Vertical team as a 5th grade girls small group leader. Four years ago, my oldest child was starting fifth grade and my second child was playing soccer. I learned that one of her sons was a small group leader for my third child, who was 6 at that time. Fast forward and that little 6 year old boy is as tall as me and starting fifth grade himself. His sweet small group leader is now at college — but not forgotten. I have loved getting to see the girls in my group each week and being part of their lives. Meeting on Zoom in the spring with our group of girls was not ideal, but certainly better than not meeting at all.
Communication is at an all time low and stress is at an all time high. I didn't hear from him all day, is that normal. And for mormons, the goal is always a temple marriage and a marriage for the eternities. I would go ahead and make boundaries with the conversation about kids and church, if that is your preference. No beliefs are protected from challenge, the rules of evidence, or derision. This was the biggest one for me. Too often, I think, priesthood holders think that being overly controlling, they are simply wielding their authority in the home.
